## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT WAS LANDING ON RUNWAY 16 AT KADC WITH A CROSSWIND 130 16 G 22 AND THE PILOT LOST CONTROL AFTER TOUCH DOWN AND DRIFTED TO THE WEST OF THE RUNWAY. THE PILOT THEN TRIED TO ADD POWER TO GO AROUND AND DECIDED THAT HE WAS NOT ABLE TO GO AROUND. HE BROUGHT THE POWER TO IDLE AND WENT DOWN INTO THE DITCH ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF RUNWAY 16. THE AIRPLANE SUNK IN THE MUD ON THE SIDE OF THE RUNWAY AND FLIPPED OVER. NO INJURIES, BUT SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI06CA120](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI06CA120), Apr 19, 2006: Cessna 172E (N5766T), Wadena, MN, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's inadequate compensation for the wind conditions during the landing. Factors were the crosswinds, the gusts, and the ditch.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
