## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) SHORTLY AFTER DEPARTURE FROM KAUS ON A DAY VFR FLIGHT TO E38 (ALPINE, TEXAS), THE AIRCRAFT COLLIDED WITH LARGE TURKEY VULTURES. WHEN THE STRIKE OCCURRED THE AIRCRAFT WAS CLIMBING APPROXIMATELY 2000 FEET. AS THE TURKEY VULTURES PASSED TO THE LEFT, ONE OF THE VULTURES HIT THE OUTER PORTION OF THE LEFT WING. THE STRICK TORE OPEN THE OUTER PART OF THE WING AND LEFT PART OF THE WINGTIP PANEL FLAPPING IN THE WIND. THE AIRCRAFT LANDED SAFELY.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
