## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) N9756U DEPARTED BROWN FIELD ON RWY 26R, BECAME AIRBORNE AND LOST CONTROL. THE AIRCRAFT CRASHED THROUGH A FENCE AND CAME TO REST 1/4 MILE NORTH OF THE AIRPORT AT 231632PDT. THE PILOT AND PASSENGER SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES. THE AIRCRAFT WAS DESTROYED. THE PILOT REQUESTED AND MADE AN EARLY RIGHT TURN IN THE PATTERN. DURING THE TURN HE REALIZED THE AIRCRAFT WAS GOING TOO SLOW AND WAS ENTERING A STALL. THE AIRCRAFT THEN "SNAPPED" QUICKLY TO THE RIGHT. HE APPLIED OPPOSITE AILERON AND THE AIRCRAFT IMMEDIATELY ROLLED LEFT. HE APPLIED CORRECTIONS IN OPPOSITE DIRECTIONS SEVERAL TIMES BUT BY THE TIME HE REGAINED CONTROL AND AIRSPEED, HE COULDN'T AVOID THE FENCE. THE AIRCRAFT ENDED UP INVERTED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX06CA146](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX06CA146), Apr 23, 2006: Grumman American AA-1C (N9756U), San Diego, CA, destroyed. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain adequate airspeed, which resulted in a stall during initial climb. A contributing factor was his diverted attention.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
