## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON APRIL 30, 2006, AT APPROXIMATELY 1600 MOUNTAIN STANDARD TIME, A CESSNA 172N, N739AJ, REGISTERED TO THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DATA OMIT^ COLLIDED WITH A SIGN POST WHILE TAXIING TO PARKING IN BILLINGS, MONTANA. THE AIRCRAFT WAS SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED AND THE REGISTERED OWNER/PILOT, AND HIS PASSENGER/WIFE, WERE NOT INJURED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB SEA06CA098](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/SEA06CA098), Apr 30, 2006: Cessna 172N (N739AJ), Billings, MT, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain clearance from a sign while taxiing to parking.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
