## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) DURING APPROACH AND LANDING AT SALINE VALLEY, CA AIRPORT, AIRCRAFT LANDED APPROX 200 YDS SHORT OF RUNWAY AFTER PILOT ALLOWED AIRCRAFT TO BECOME TOO LOW AND TOO SLOW TO RECOVER. AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE WITH MAIN LANDING GEAR AND PROP SHEARING, RIGHT FLAP BUCKLED, ENGINE COWLING AND FIREWALL DENTED/BUCKLED AND DENTS/BUCKLING IN HORIZONTAL STABILIZER. NO INJURY TO PILOT. PILOT STATED THAT HIS APPROACH SPEED WAS APPROX 60 MPH WITH 20 DEGREES OF FLAP SELECTED. PILOT RECOGNIZED DECREASE IN SPEED/ALTITUDE AND APPLIED POWER BUT WAS TOO LATE RESULTING IN AIRCRAFT UNABLE TO RECOVER AND IMPACTING SURFACE IN A WINGS LEVEL ATTITUDE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX06CA163](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX06CA163), May 4, 2006: Indus T211 (N160SE), Death Valley, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: the pilot's failure to maintain an adequate airspeed during final approach, which resulted in an inadvertent stall/mush and collision with terrain.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
