## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT LANDED ON RWY 08 AT NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY (N79). UPON LANDING THE AIRCRAFT BEGAN TO PORPOISE. PILOT ADDED FULL POWER TO GO-AROUND. THE AIRCRAFT DRIFTED LEFT OF THE RWY CENTER LINE. SECONDS BEFORE CONTACTING THE TOPS OF THE TREES THE PILOT SELECTED FLAPS FROM 30 DEGREES (FULL DOWN) TO 0 DEGREES (FULL UP), AND LOWERED THE NOSE OF THE AIRCRAFT, TO INCREASE AIRSPEED. WHEN THE AIRCRAFT'S NOSE WAS LOWERED THE AIRCRAFT CONTACTED THE TOP OF A ROW OF TREES, ROLLED INVERTED AND STRUCK THE GROUND NOSE FIRST. THE FORCE BENT THE ENTIRE AIRCRAFT FUSELAGE JUST AFT OF THE FIREWALL AND THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST INVERTED. THE PILOT CRAWLED OUT OF THE WRECKAGE AND CALLED 911 ON HER CELL PHONE. SHE WAS LIFE-FLIGHTED TO DANVILLE, PA MEDICAL CENTER IN SERIOUS CONDITION.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB NYC06CA109](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/NYC06CA109), May 6, 2006: Cessna 152 (N4732Q), Shamokin, PA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to recover from a bounced landing, and her improper use of flaps during an aborted landing, which resulted in an in-flight collision with trees.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
