THE PRIVATE PILOT AND ONE PASSENGER WERE THE SOLE OCCUPANTS AND SUFFERED NO INJURIES. VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS PREVAILED AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT. THE FLIGHT ORIGINATED AT MERRILL FIELD, ALASKA, WITH A PROPOSED DESTINATION OF MCCARTHY, ALASKA. ## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC06CA050](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC06CA050), May 7, 2006: Cessna 170B (N2396D), Chickaloon, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's selection of unsuitable terrain for landing, which resulted in a nose over during the landing roll. A factor associated with the accident was the snow on the runway.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
