## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT FLEW A LONG STRAIGHT-IN APPROACH TO RWY 26 AT DEL NORTE AIRPORT. HE DEVELOPED A HIGH SINK RATE ON SHORT FINAL AND LANDED VERY HARD AT 200 FEET FROM THE THRESHOLD. HE ATTEMPTED A GO-AROUND AND AS HE DID SO, HE RAISED THE GEAR HANDLE. THE AIRCRAFT WAS NOT ABLE TO GO AROUND, AND CONTINUED TO ROLL AND VEER TO THE RIGHT. AS HE DEPARTED THE RUNWAY AT 2500 FEET FROM THE THRESHOLD, THE GEAR WAS IN THE PROCESS OF RETRACTING. THE AIRCRAFT THEN SWERVED ABOUT 90 DEGREES TO THE RIGHT AND CAME TO A STOP WITH THE GEAR MOST OF THE WAY, BUT NOT ALL THE WAY RETRACTED. THE LEFT MAIN GEAR STRUT WAS PROTRUDING THROUGH THE TOP OF THE WING. THE PROPELLER STRUCK THE GROUND WITH ALL THREE BLADES, WHICH WERE ALL CRACKED. THE AIRCRAFT CONTACTED AN OBJECT WITH THE LEADING EDGE OF THE WING CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE WING BEFORE IT CAME TO A STOP. ALSO A METAL SPIKE IMPAILED THE LEFT HORIZONTAL STABILIZER. THE PILOT AND HIS THREE PASSENGERS WERE NOT INJURED.
