## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) DURING DEPARTURE AT LONG BEACH AIRPORT, RUNWAY 25R, JUST AFTER LIFTOFF, THE PILOT REPORTED HE FELT A WIND GUST WHICH KEPT THE AIRCRAFT FROM CLIMBING AND LIFTED THE LEFT WING. THE RIGHT WING DIPPED DOWN AND THE TIP TANK STRUCK THE GROUND. HE STABILIZED THE A/C, THROTTLES MOVED TO IDLE AND SETTLED TO THE RUNWAY. THE A/C THEN STARTED TO SKID WESTBOUND ON 25R AND THEN VEERED ONTO THE GRASS JUST EAST OF THE PERIMETER ROAD. HE THEN TURNED THE AIRCRAFT TO THE LEFT TO PREVENT HITTING THE FENCE LINE AND THE AIRCRAFT STOPPED ON THE PERIMETER ROAD.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX06CA171](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX06CA171), May 14, 2006: Cessna 320 (N5799X), Long Beach, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: the pilot's inadequate compensation for the crosswind condition and failure to maintain lateral control of the airplane during takeoff.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
