## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON MAY 18, 2006, ABOUT 1433 PACIFIC STANDARD TIME, A CESSNA 172RG MADE AN INTENTIONAL GEAR UP LANDING AT MOFFETT AIR FIELD (NUG). THE AIRCRAFT HAS MINOR DAMAGE AND BOTH THE PILOT AND PASSENGER WERE NOT INJURED. THE PILOT REPORTED TO THE FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION INSPECTOR THAT THE PILOT AND PASSENGER DEPARTED PALO ALTO AIRPORT (PAO) UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF 14 CFR PART 91 AND WERE ENROUTE TO FIREBAUGH AIRPORT (Q49). WHEN THE PILOT ATTEMPTED TO RETRACT THE LANDING GEAR, THE LEFT MAIN GEAR WOULD NOT RETRACT. THEY ATTEMPTED TO CYCLE THE GEAR SEVERAL TIMES BUT THE LEFT MAIN GEAR WOULD NOT FULLY RETRACT. THE PILOT RETURNED TO PAO WHERE THEY SUGGESTED THAT THEY FLY AROUND AND BURN OFF SOME FUEL THEN DECLARE AN EMERGENCY AND LAND AT NUQ.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
