## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) SHORTLY AFTER DEPARTURE FROM A PRIVATE STRIP, 5 MILES SOUTH OF CORPUS CHRISTI, THE PILOT REPORTED THAT A DUST DEVIL HIT HIS LEFT WIND AND THERE WAS NO MECHANICAL PROBLEMS WITH THE AIRCRAFT. THE PILOT OVER CORRECTED THE WIND ACTION AND CAUSED THE AIRCRAFT TO ENTER A STALL SPIN. THE AIRCRAFT IMPACTED THE GROUND DESTROYING THE AIRCRAFT AND SERIOUS INJURY TO THE PILOT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB DFW06CA129](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/DFW06CA129), May 18, 2006: Mahoney Evans VP-1 (N72260), Corpus Christi, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain control of the airplane. A contributing factor was the dust devil/whirlwind.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
