## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) DURING A CERTIFICATED FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR CHECK RIDE, THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WAS INSTRUCTED TO DO A POWER RECOVERY MANEUVER. IT IS REPORTED THAT THE AIRCRAFT ENGINE DID NOT DELIVER ENOUGH POWER QUICKLY ENOUGH, AND THE AIRCRAFT IMPACTED THE GROUND AT A HIGH SINK RATE. THIS CAUSED THE MAIN ROTOR BLADES TO FLEX DOWNWARD, STRIKING THE TAIL BOOM AND SEVERING IT. THE AIRCRAFT STOPPED IMMEDIATELY. THERE WAS SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT. THERE WERE NO INJURIES TO THE OCCUPANTS.
