## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT BOUGHT AIRCRAFT AND PROCEEDED WITH HIS FATHER FROM KANSAS ENROUTE TO HIS HOME IN ^PRIVACY DATA OMI^ HE CIRCLED THE AIRPORT APPROXIMATELY 4 TIMES IN KANSAS TO GET A FEEL FOR THE AIRCRAFT AND THEN PROCEEDED SOUTH. PILOT CIRCLED THE FIELD ONCE AND LANDED AT ARDMORE MUNICIPAL AIRPORT TO REFUEL AND SPEND THE NIGHT. WHEN HE ARRIVED THERE WERE NO FACILITIES OR FUEL AVAILABLE. HE TOOK OFF FOR DOWNTOWN EXECUTIVE AIRPARK IN ARDMORE. AFTER LIFT OFF, WITH DOWNTOWN EXECUTIVE IN SIGHT, THE AIRCRAFT RAN OUT OF FUEL AND THE ENGINE QUIT. THE PILOT AIMED THE AIRCRAFT FOR A DARK AREA AND DESCENDED UNTIL THE RIGHT WING STRUCK A TREE. THE AIRCRAFT ROTATED TO THE RIGHT WITH THE NOSE DESCENDING AND STRUCK THE TREE LINE, UNDERCARRIAGE FIRST, IN A NEAR VERTICAL POSITION. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST WITH THE NOSE BURIED IN THE GROUND AND THE AIRCRAFT LODGED VERTICALLY IN THE TREES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB DFW06CA131](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/DFW06CA131), May 21, 2006: Cessna 150M (N714BL), Ardmore, OK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The loss of engine power due to fuel exhaustion as a result of the pilot's inadequate preflight planning.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
