## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AIRCRAFT WAS FLOWN UNTIL FUEL EXHAUSTION. PILOT FAILED TO EXECUTE A SAFE LANDING FROM THE SUBSEQUENT AUTOROTATION, RESULTING IN SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX06CA180](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX06CA180), May 23, 2006: Bell 47-G5 (N4741R), Soledad, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: fuel exhaustion due to the pilot's inaccurate fuel consumption calculations and failure to refuel the helicopter which resulted in a loss of engine power.

## Other reports on N4741R (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Accident 19731130038249A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19731130038249A), Nov 30, 1973: Bell 47G5 (N4741R), La Verne, CA, Substantial damage. Practice autorotation. Lnd in soft area.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
