## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PIC REPORTED THAT DURING HIS APPROACH TO LAND HE POSITIONED THE LANDING GEAR SELECTOR HANDLE TO THE DOWN POSITION AND HEARD A "THUMP" DURING THE OPENING OF THE GEAR DOORS. AFTER THE MAIN GEARS EXTENDED NORMALLY THE LEFT MAIN GEAR DOOR FAILED TO RETRACT TO STREAMLINE AND BEGAN TO IMPACT THE BOTTOM LEFT FUSELAGE AREA NEAR THE BAGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR, CAUSING MINOR SKIN DAMAGE. FURTHER INVESTIGATION OF THE AIRCRAFT RECORDS REVEALED THAT THREE DAYS PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT A WELDING REPAIR WAS ACCOMPLISHED ON THE LANDING GEAR DOOR, THE WELD DID NOT HOLD CAUSING THE DOOR TO COME LOOSE AT THE ATTACHMENT DOOR.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
