## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB NYC06LA124](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/NYC06LA124), May 28, 2006: Cessna C-172N (N738HE), Vineyard Haven, MA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's improper preflight planning and improper fuel consumption calculations, which resulted in fuel exhaustion and a subsequent loss of engine power.

## Other reports on N738HE (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19780219007589I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19780219007589I), Feb 19, 1978: Cessna 172 (N738HE), Houston, TX. Pilot lost oil pressure, temperature high, then engine siezed. Suspect oil pump failure, manufacturer replaced.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
