## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT NOTICED THAT ONE OF TWO TWIN FUEL TANKS WAS LOWER THEN THE OTHER ONE. BOTH TANKS FEED THE ENGINE AT THE SAME TIME WITH NO SELECTOR VALVE. HE FLEW TOWARD THE WEST BEND MUNICIPAL AIRPORT TO LAND, BUT THE ENGINE STOPPED ABOUT A MILE SHORT OF THE RUNWAY. HE EXECUTED AN EMERGENCY LANDING IN TREES SHORT OF THE RUNWAY.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI06CA142](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI06CA142), May 30, 2006: Stys T-Bird Sport (N391T), West Bend, WI, substantial damage. Probable cause: The loss of engine power for undetermined reasons and the pilot's failure to maintain airspeed which resulted in a stall.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
