## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON MAY 30, 2006 AT APPROXIMATELY 1630 MST, N515TT, A WACO YMF BIPLANE, WITH THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED PERFORMING AS PILOT-IN-COMMAND, CRASHED WHILE ATTEMPTING TO LAND AT HOLLBROOK MUNICIPAL AIRPORT (P14). THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DATA^ HAS STATED THAT HE WAS ON A VFR CROSS-COUNTRY FLIGHT FROM KINGMAN AIRPORT (IGM) TO HOLBROOK MUNICIPAL AIRPORT (P14). THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DATA^ STATED THAT AS HE WAS ATTEMPTING TO LAND ON RUNWAY 21 AT HOLBROOK, THE WIND WAS 90 DEGREES TO THE LEFT OF THE RUNWAY. AS THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DATA^ TOUCHED DOWN ON RUNWAY 21, HE STATES THAT A GUST OF WIND CAUSED THE AIRCRAFT TO SUDDENLY VEER TO THE LEFT WITH THE RIGHT WING STRIKING THE RUNWAY, AND THEN DEPART THE RUNWAY. AS THE AIRCRAFT ENTERED THE DIRT AREA OFF THE RUNWAY, THE RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR COLLAPSED AND THE AIRCRAFT SLID TO A STOP ON ITS BELLY. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE NOSE AREA, RIGHT LOWER WING, LEFT UPPER WING AND RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR. THE PILOT, THE SOLE OCCUPANT OF THE AIRCRAFT, WAS NOT INJURED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX06CA195](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX06CA195), May 30, 2006: Waco Classic YMF 5C (N515TT), Holbrook, AZ, substantial damage. Probable cause: the pilot's inadequate compensation for the crosswind condition and failure to maintain directional control of the airplane during landing, which resulted in a ground loop.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
