## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON 31 MAY 2006 AT APPROXIMATELY 1530 EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME (EDT) A WEATHERLY 201B N1281W IMPACTED THE TERRAIN WHILE PERFORMING AN AERIAL APPLICATION OF FERTILIZER NEAR SOUTHAMPTON, NEW JERSEY. THE CERTIFICATED COMMERCIAL PILOT SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES. VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS PREVAILED AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT. THE FLIGHT WAS CONDUCTED UNDER 14 CFR PART 137. ACCORDING TO THE INFORMATION OBTAINED FROM THE PILOT, UPON COMPLETING THE THIRD APPLICATION THE ENGINE LOST POWER. HE INITIATED EMERGENCY DUMP PROCEDURES TO LIGHTEN THE AIRCRAFT. THE INITIAL IMPACT WAS THE RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR STRIKING A WATER GATE. THE SECOND IMPACTED A LINE OF SHRUBBERY, WHERE IT SLOWED THE AIRCRAFT DOWN AS IT CAME TO REST IN A MARSHY AREA. THE PILOT EXITED THE AIRCRAFT UNDER HIS OWN POWER AND WAS LATER TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL FOR A PRECAUTIONARY EXAM.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB NYC06LA142](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/NYC06LA142), May 31, 2006: Weatherly 201B (N1281W), Southampton, NJ, substantial damage. Probable cause: The failure of the engine's supercharger, which resulted in a loss of engine power, and subsequent forced landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
