## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AIRCRAFT DEPARTED RWY 20R AT THE JEAN, NV AIRPORT (017) AND UPON REACHING 300-400 FEET, THE PILOT STATED THAT HIS AIRSPEED WENT FROM 85 KTS TO 60 KTS. THE PILOT THEN STATED THAT HE NOSED THE AIRCRAFT OVER TO ACCELERATE, HOWEVER WAS STILL LOSING ALTITUDE. NOTICING THAT THE TERRAIN AHEAD WAS UNFAVORABLE FOR A FORCED LANDING, THE PILOT ELECTED TO DEVIATE TO THE RIGHT WHEREIN HE WOULD HAVE MORE SUITABLE DESERT TO LAND UPON. UNABLE TO REGAIN A CLIMB, THE PILOT WAS IN FACT FORCED TO LAND IN THE DESERT. DURING THE FORCED LANDING, THE NOSE WHEEL WAS TORN OFF THE AIRCRAFT, THE LEFT MAIN GEAR APPEARED TO BE BENT, THE PROP WAS DESTROYED, SUDDEN STOPPAGE ON THE ENGINE AND THE FIREWALL BENT/DAMAGED. ALL SIX SKYDIVERS AND THE PILOT EXITED THE AIRCRAFT WITHOUT INCIDENT OR INJURIES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX06CA194](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX06CA194), Jun 2, 2006: Cessna T207A (N9962M), Jean, NV, substantial damage. Probable cause: the pilot's failure to obtain and maintain an adequate airspeed, which resulted in a stall/mush. A factor in the accident was the high density altitude.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
