## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT TOOK OFF NORMALLY FROM THE SOUTH RUNWAY (4) @ FFZ, EASTBOUND. AT APPROX. 300 FT (AGL) THE PILOT HEARD A LOUD "BANG" AND THE ENGINE FAILED ABRUPTLY. THE PILOT IMMEDIATELY MANEUVERED THE AIRCRAFT INTO A SHARP 180 DEGREE LEFT TURN AND LANDED UNEVENTFULLY, "DEAD-STICK" ON THE NORTH RUNWAY (R22), WESTBOUND. THE AIRCRAFT WAS REMOVED FROM THE RUNWAY AND TOWED TO ITS DESIGNATED COVERED TIE-DOWN AND PARKED. NO PILOT INJURIES AND NO POST-EVENT SMOKE/FIRE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
