## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) WORK WAS BEING ACCOMPLISHED ON THE TAXIWAY THE NIGHT BEFORE THE INCIDENT. WORK AREA WAS COVERED WITH A LIGHTWEIGHT METAL PLATE DURING THE DAYTIME AIRPORT OPERATIONS. AS THE AIRCRAFT TAXIED OUT FOR DEPARTURE, THE PLATE WAS LIFTED UP BY THE EXHAUST OF THE AIRCRAFT'S ENGINE, AND STRUCK THE R/H HORIZONTAL STABILIZER.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI06LA161](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI06LA161), Jun 8, 2006: Boeing 737-300 (N403TZ), New York, NY, substantial damage. Probable cause: The foreign object damage to the horizontal stabilizer during taxi as a result of improper airport maintenance by contract maintenance personnel. The aluminum plate was a factor.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
