## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) NOSE GEAR COLLAPSED UPON LANDING AFTER SLIGHT HOP. THE NOSE LANDING GEAR ACTUATOR UPPER ATTACHMENT BRACKET WAS FOUND TO HAVE FAILED ALONG BOTH BEND RADIUSES. ONE FAILURE SURFACE HAD CUPPING MARKS ON THE METAL WHERE IT FAILED, INDICATING A CRACK PRIOR TO FAILURE. THE LANCAIR 320FB, CHAPTER 5, PAGE 55, FIGURE 5-40, SPECIFIES THAT THE ACTUATOR ATTACH BRACKET SHOULD BE MADE FROM ANGLE A1, BUT IT DOES NOT SPECIFY THE TYPE OR GRADE OF A1. THE FAILED BRACKETS APPEARED TO BE CAST AND NOT AN EXTRUSION.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
