## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT WAS FLYING THE SCHWEITZER SGS 2-33A GLIDER APPROXIMATELY 5 MILES EAST OF THE HOOD RIVER AIRPORT IN SOME RIDGE SOARING CONDITIONS. THE WIND BLEW THE GLIDER DOWNWIND OF THE RIDGE INTO SOME STRIKING CONDITIONS. GIVEN THE SINK AND APPROXIMATELY 20 KNOT HEADWIND THE GLIDER DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH ALTITUDE TO RETURN TO THE LIFT CONDITIONS. AN OFF AIRPORT LANDING WAS MADE IN A CLEARING. NO ONE WAS INJURED AND THE AIRCRAFT RECEIVED DAMAGE TO THE LEADING EDGE OF THE RIGHT WING, LEADING EDGE OF THE HORIZONTAL STABILIZER, TEARS IN THE FUSELAGE BELLY FABRIC, AND A BENT FRONT SKID.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
