## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ACCORDING WITH THE PILOT'S ^PRIVACY DATA^ ACCIDENT REPORT STATEMENT DATED 28 JUNE 2006, HE DEPARTED "VFR" FROM FT. LAUDERDALE (KFLL) DIRECT TO ST. THOMAS (TIST), IT APPEARS THAT THE PILOT'S ^PRIVACY DATA^ AIRCRAFT ENCOUNTERED A FUEL TRANSFER PROBLEM WITH THE AUXILIARY FUEL TANK, CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO RUN OUT OF FUEL DUE TO FUEL STARVATION, AND EVENTUALLY TO DITCH ON THE OCEAN 33NM FROM THE AGUADILLA AIRPORT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC06LA078](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC06LA078), Jun 23, 2006: Piper PA-23-250 (N75JF), Borinquen, PR, destroyed. Probable cause: Fuel starvation/exhaustion for an undetermined reason during cruise flight, which resulted in a complete loss of engine power to both engines and a ditching in the ocean.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
