## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON JUNE 24, 2006, AT 1420 MDT, A PILATUS PC-12/47, N768H, REGISTERED TO JMH CAPITAL LLC, COLLIDED WITH TERRAIN APPROXIMATELY 1.5 MILES EAST OF THE BIG TIMBER, MONTANA AIRPORT WHILE ON A TRAINING FLIGHT. THE PILATUS CREW ADVISED THAT THEY WOULD BE ATTEMPTING A SIMULATED ENGINE FAILURE MANEUVER AFTER TAKEOFF. VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS PREVAILED AT THE TIME. THE AIRCRAFT WAS DESTROYED DURING THE CRASH SEQUENCE AND CONSUMED BY A POST CRASH FIRE. THE PILOT/OWNER AND CERTIFIED FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR SUSTAINED FATAL INJURIES. THE FLIGHT ORIGINATED AT BIG TIMBER, MONTANA SHORTLY BEFORE THE ACCIDENT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB SEA06FA126](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/SEA06FA126), Jun 24, 2006: Pilatus PC-12/47 (N768H), Big Timber, MT, destroyed, 2 fatal. Probable cause: The flight instructor's failure to maintain an adequate airspeed while maneuvering, which led to an inadvertent stall.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
