## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON JUNE 25, 2006, ABOUT 0900 PACIFIC DAYLIGHT TIME A MAULE M-7-235C, N209Z, VEERED OFF THE RUNWAY AND NOSED OVER DURING LANDING AT BRACKETT FIELD, LAVERNE, CALIFORNIA. THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DATA OMIT^ WAS OPERATING THE AIRPLANE UNDER PROVISIONS OF 14 CFR PART 91. THE PRIVATE PILOT AND ONE PASSENGER WERE NOT INJURED; THE AIRPLANE SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE. THE LOCAL PERSONAL FLIGHT DEPARTED BRACKETT FIELD ABOUT 0854. VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS PREVAILED, AND NO FLIGHT PLAN HAD BEEN FILED. THE PILOT REPORTED THAT AFTER TOUCHDOWN ON THE RUNWAY, HE LOST DIRECTIONAL CONTROL OF THE AIRPLANE. HE STATED (PER NTSB REPORT) "I WAS NOT SUCCEEDING IN CONTROLLING IT, SO I LET IT RUN OFF OF THE RUNWAY AND IT FLIPPED OVER AFTER THE PROP STRUCK THE GROUND." THE PILOT STATED THAT THE AIRPLANE AND ENGINE HAD NO MECHANICAL FAILURES THAT WOULD HAVE PRECLUDED NORMAL OPERATION.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX06CA212](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX06CA212), Jun 25, 2006: Maule M-7-235C (N209Z), La Verne, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: the pilot's failure to obtain/maintain directional control on the landing rollout.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
