## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) UPON INSPECTION OF THE AIRCRAFT AT THE ACCIDENT SCENE THE CONDITION OF THE PROPELLER INDICATES THE ENGINE WAS NOT PRODUCING POWER AT THE TIME WHEN THE AIRCRAFT IMPACTED TREES AFTER HAVING BOUNCED FROM THE ADJACENT FIELD. ON SCENE EXAMINATION OF THE FIREWALL MOUNTED FUEL BOWL REVEALED THAT IT CONTAINED SOME FUEL BUT IT WAS NOT FULL. THIS FUEL BOWL WAS FOUND TO BE FREE OF WATER. THE FUEL TANKS WERE EXAMINED ON SCENE AND ALTHOUGH DAMAGED THEY WERE NOT PUNCTURED. THE LH FUEL TANK WAS DRAINED AND FOUND TO CONTAIN TWO QUARTS + OR - A PINT OF AVIATION FUEL. THE RH TANK WAS DRAINED AND FOUND TO CONTAIN ONE GALLON OF AVIATION FUEL.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB NYC06LA163](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/NYC06LA163), Jun 30, 2006: Cessna 150H (N6970S), Smyrna, DE, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's misjudged fuel calculations, which resulted in fuel exhaustion and subsequent loss of engine power. A factor was the nighttime lighting conditions.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
