## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AIRCRAFT DEPARTED A PARKING AREA IN WALFORD, IOWA FOR THE PURPOSE OF FILMING A PROCESSION OF AUTOMOBILES ON A STATE HIGHWAY. WITNESSES STATED THAT THE HELICOPTER MADE SEVERAL LOW PASSES TO THE EAST AND TO THE WEST AT A FLIGHT PATH PARALLEL TO THE HIGHWAY. ON THE FINAL PASS TO THE WEST, THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK TWO NORTH-SOUTH POWER WIRES AND CRASHED IN A CORN FIELD APPROXIMATELY 120 FEET FROM THE POINT OF THE WIRE STRIKE. THE AIRCRAFT WAS DESTROYED. A CAMERA OPERATOR SEATED IN THE REAR OF THE HELICOPTER WAS FATALLY INJURED. THE PILOT AND FRONT SEAT PASSENGER RECEIVED SERIOUS INJURIES. ^PRIVACY DATA OMIT^

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI06FA173](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI06FA173), Jun 30, 2006: Bell 206B (N2877F), Walford, IA, destroyed, 1 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain clearance from powerlines. The powerlines were a factor.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
