## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) DURING THE TAKEOFF PHASE AT LIFT-OFF, THE RIGHT ENGINE (#2) EXPERIENCED SEVERE COMPRESSOR STALLS THAT REQUIRED IMMEDIATE SHUTDOWN OF THE ENGINE. THIS TAKEOFF WAS A MAXIMUM GROSS WEIGHT TAKEOFF REQUIRING MAXIMUM POWER SETTINGS. THE AIRCRAFT RETURNED TO THE DEPARTING AIRPORT AND LANDED WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. MAXIMUM BRAKING PROCEDURES WERE REQUIRED SINCE NO THRUST REVERSERS WERE UTILIZED. THE RIGHT ENGINE SHOWED DAMAGE TO THE ACOUSTICAL LINING MATERIAL INSIDE THE ENGINE NEAR THE 13TH STAGE AREA. APPARENTLY, SOME PORTIONS OF THIS ACOUSTICAL LINING MATERIAL SEPARATED DURING TAKEOFF WITH NO OTHER DAMAGE NOTED TO THE ENGINE COWLINGS. FURTHER INVESTIGATION SHOWS A BLEED AIR LEAK OCCURRED FROM A RUPTURED DUCT SEAL APPARENTLY FROM THE 13TH STAGE DUCTING MANIFOLD. NO OTHER DAMAGE WAS FOUND. ADDITIONALLY, THE LEFT ENGINE APPARENTLY EXCEEDED 610 DEGREES MOMENTARILY DUE TO THIS EMERGENCY. THE AIRCRAFT WILL UNDERGO SPECIAL INSPECTIONS FOR HEAVY WEIGHT LANDING, LEFT ENGINE INSPECTION AND HOT BRAKE INSPECTIONS.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
