## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT OF N7349G, A CE-172 AIRCRAFT, MADE AN APPROACH TO LAND AT A GRASS LANDING STRIP AND TOUCHED DOWN APPROXIMATELY HALF WAY DOWN THE 2500 FOOT RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT TOUCHED DOWN ON THE GRASS RUNWAY HARD AND BOUNCED BACK INTO THE AIR BEFORE TOUCHING DOWN AGAIN ON THE NOSE GEAR ASSEMBLY. THE FORCE OF THE INITIAL TOUCH DOWN RESULTED IN A LOSS OF CONTROL AND THE AIRCRAFT SKIDDED INTO THE ADJACENT CORN FIELD. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE AS A RESULT OF THE HARD LANDING AND SLID INTO THE CORN FIELD. THE NOSE GEAR WAS BROKEN OFF THE AIRCRAFT AND STRUCTURAL DAMAGE WAS SUSTAINED TO THE FUSELAGE AND RIGHT WING. THE PILOT RECEIVED MINOR INJURIES AS A RESULT OF THIS ACCIDENT. THIS INVESTIGATION IS CLOSED WITH THIS REPORT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI06CA185](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI06CA185), Jul 7, 2006: Cessna 172K (N7349G), Sullivan, IL, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's misjudged flare and his improper recovery from the bounced landing which led to a loss of directional control and subsequent collision with crops and the ground.
