## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON JULY 8, 2006, AT 1510 EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME, A TAYLORCRAFT BC12D, N96758, REGISTERED TO ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ AND OPERATED BY THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^, PRIVATE PILOT CERTIFICATE ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ CRASHED AT GOLD HILL AIRPARK, NORTH CAROLINA. THE FLIGHT WAS CONDUCTED UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF TITLE 14 CFR PART 91. THE PILOT WAS PERFORMING TAKE-OFF AND LANDING MANEUVERS. THE WEATHER AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT WAS VFR AND THE WINDS WERE VARIABLE OUT OF THE SOUTH AT APPROXIMATELY 5 KNOTS. EXAMINATION OF THE ACCIDENT SITE AND THE SURROUNDING AREA REVEALED THAT THE AIRCRAFT APPEARED TO HAVE DEPARTED THE RUNWAY CENTERLINE AT APPROXIMATELY A 20-25 DEGREE ANGLE AND MAINTAINED THAT ANGLE THROUGHOUT ITS EXIT FROM THE RUNWAY. ONCE THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTED THE ASPHALT RUNWAY THE AIRCRAFT'S TIRES MADE DISTINCT TREAD MARKS IN THE GROUND BETWEEN THE RUNWAY EDGE AND THE GRASS. THE TRACK CONTINUED THROUGH THE GRASS THEN OVER A CONCRETE TAXIWAY WHERE EVIDENCE OF SLIGHT SIDEWAYS RUBBING COULD BE SEEN FOR APPROXIMATELY TWO FEET. THE TRACK WAS ONCE AGAIN EVIDENT WHENT IT LEFT THE CONCRETE AND CONTINUED THROUGH THE GRASS APPROXIMATELY 100 FEET AND HEADED TOWARD A GRAY HOUSE THAT IS TO THE WEST OF THE WITNESS'S HOUSE, ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^, WHICH IS A BROWN HOUSE. THE AIRCRAFT TRACK ENDED THERE (DEPICTION OF THE HOUSES AND THE AIRCRAFT'S TRACK ARE ON THE MAP). THE WITNESS ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ STATED THAT THE AIRCRAFT WAS COMING FROM THE DIRECTION OF RUNWAY 27. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ HEARD THE AIRCRAFT AND IT WAS AT FULL POWER. HE LOOKED UP AND SAW THE AIRCRAFT HAD AN EXTREMELY NOSE HIGH ATTITUDE. HE STATED THAT THE AIRCRAFT BARELY CLEARED HIS HOUSE. ACCORDING TO ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WHEN THE AIRCRAFT WAS JUST BEYOND HIM, BY AN ESTIMATED 150 FT TO 200 FT, THE WING DROPPED AND THE NOSE PITCHED DOWN AND THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK THE GROUND. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ HOUSE IS LOCATED APPROXIMATELY 1,200 FEET FROM THE APPROACH END OF RUNWAY 27.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
