## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE SR-22 WAS APPROACHING THE THRESHOLD TO RNWY 30 HIGH AND FAST, STARTED A DIVE TOWARD THE RUNWAY THEN LEVELED OFF AT 75 FEET AND INITIATED A PARTIAL POWER GO-AROUND WITH FULL FLAPS. IT MADE AN ABRUPT STEEP BANKED LEFT CROSSWIND TURN 3/4 DOWN THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT WAS MANEUVERING WELL BELOW PATTERN ALTITUDE AS IT DESCENDED THROUGH A TREE LINE IN A KNIFE EDGE CONFIGURATION, IT CRASHED IN A SOY BEAN FIELD ADJACENT TO THE LEFT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY. WITNESSES IN A HOUSE BELOW HEARD LOUD ENGINE NOISES JUST BEFORE IMPACT. THE AIRCRAFT WAS CONFIGURED WITH FULL FLAPS AND PROP SIGNATURES IN THE DIRT INDICATE THE ENGINE WAS DEVELOPING POWER AT THE TIME OF IMPACT. THE PILOT SUFFERED FATAL INJURIES AND THE AIRCRAFT WAS DESTROYED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI06FA186](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI06FA186), Jul 11, 2006: Cirrus Design SR-22 (N8163Q), Edgewater, MD, destroyed, 1 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot' failure to maintain sufficient airspeed which resulted in a stall. A factor was the pilots failure to properly set the flaps for the go-around.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
