## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE DURING AN INFLIGHT COLLISION WITH A POWERLINE WHILE MANEUVERING AT A LOW ALTITUDE 3 MILES NORTHWEST OF BIG LAKE. PILOT HAD BEEN LOOKING FOR FISH IN A RIVER WHEN AIRPLANE STRUCK POWERLINE. (-23 AMENDMENT) ACCORDING TO THE PILOT, THE AIRCRAFT INADVERTENTLY STRUCK POWER LINES THAT WERE NOT MARKED ON THE SECTIONAL CHART AND THE INVESTIGATION REVEALED THAT NO NOTAMS WERE IN EFFECT FOR THE LINES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC06LA101](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC06LA101), Jul 13, 2006: Cessna 172E (N5560T), Big Lake, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain altitude/clearance from a transmission line while performing a low altitude maneuver, which resulted in an in-flight collision with the transmission line.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
