## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT WAS DISTRACTED ON A LONG STRAIGHT IN APPROACH TO CAMARILLO AND FAILED TO PUT THE GEAR DOWN PRIOR TO LANDING. THE PILOT STATED THAT HE PERFORMED A "GUMP" CHECK, BUT DID NOT VERIFY THAT THE GEAR WERE DOWN. HE DID NOT RECALL HEARING ANY GEAR WARNING HORN ON FINAL OR DURING THE FLARE. THE PILOT STATED THAT HE HAD FAILED TO COMPLETE A LANDING CHECKLIST.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX06CA239](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX06CA239), Jul 19, 2006: Cessna 177RG (N34480), Camarillo, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: the pilot's failure to extended the landing gear and verify the proper landing gear configuration prior to landing, resulting in a gear-up landing.

## Other reports on N34480 (2)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19940220004829I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19940220004829I), Feb 20, 1994: Cessna 177RG (N34480), Augusta, GA, Minor damage. Landed gear up on instructional flight. Crew did not check gear position.
- [Incident 19921018046159I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19921018046159I), Oct 18, 1992: Cessna 177RG (N34480), Augusta, GA, Minor damage. Unable to lock gear down. Gear collapsed on rollout. Rod end that drives landing gear up and down had failed.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
