## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) WHILE DESCENDING FROM 4000' TO 3000' ON APPROACH TO FERGUS FALLS, MN (FFM) THE AIRCRAFT BEGAN AN UNCONTROLLED LEFT BANK. THE AIRCRAFT COMPLETED TWO COMPLETE 360 DEGREE TURNS BEFORE CRASHING INTO A BEAN FIELD 5 MILES NE OF FFM. THIS WAS VERIFIED DURING THE POST CRASH INVESTIGATION BY THE FLIGHT TRACK ON THE ON-BOARD GPS. BETWEEN JULY 7, 2005 AND JULY 20, 2006 THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ LOGGED 1.8 HOURS OF AIRCRAFT FLIGHT TIME AND 3 HOURS IN A FRASCA SIMULATOR. HE DOES NOT HAVE A CURRENT BIENNIAL FLIGHT REVIEW ON HIS PILOT'S CERTIFICATE IN VIOLATION OF FAR 61.56(C).

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI06LA207](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI06LA207), Jul 21, 2006: Schlei Avid Flyer Speed Win (N507S), Fergus Falls, MN, substantial damage. Probable cause: the fractured aileron bell crank and elevator clevis rod end.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
