## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) N6686N, A CESSNA T210N, ON LANDING RUNWAY 19 AT TRUCKEE-TAHOE AIRPORT (TRK) CA, RAN OFF THE LEFT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY TEARING OUT THE NOSE LANDING GEAR. A 35 YEAR EXPERIENCED FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR STATED THAT HE WITNESSED THE LANDING AND THAT THE CESSNA CAME IN VERY FAST AND APPEARED TO HAVE PILOT INDUCED OSCILLATIONS. THE FIRST WAS MILD, SECOND WORSE AND THE THIRD SEVERE. HE ALSO STATED THAT THE WIND WAS ALMOST DEAD CALM AT THE TIME. THE PILOT'S WRITTEN STATEMENT SAID THAT HE EXPERIENCED A WIND SHEAR, LOST AIRSPEED, DROPPED TO THE RUNWAY, BOUNCED APPROXIMATELY 3 TIMES, AND THE NOSE GEAR BUCKLED. A THUNDERSTORM WAS IN THE AREA AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX06CA248](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX06CA248), Jul 22, 2006: Cessna T210N (N6686N), Truckee, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: the pilot's inadequate compensation for the existing wind conditions and failure to maintain an adequate airspeed.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
