## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AIRCRAFT DEPARTED CREVE COUR, MO ON A NORTHBOUND HEADING APPROXIMATELY 3:30 PM, SATURDAY JULY 22, 2006. ABOUT 20 TO 25 MINUTES INTO THE FLIGHT THE ENGINE INSTANTLY BECAME VERY ROUGH RUNNING AND PUFFING WHITE SMOKE OUT THE #3 CYLINDER EXHAUST PORT. THE PILOT TURNED THE AIRCRAFT BACK TOWARDS CREVE COUR BUT BY THEN THE #3 CYLINDER WAS SMOKING VERY BADLY AND POWER WAS BEING LOST. THE PILOT LANDED IN A CORN FIELD AND THE AIRCRAFT FLIPPED OVER. BOTH THE PILOT AND PASSENGER EXITED THE AIRCRAFT WITHOUT INJURIES. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
