## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT WAS PERFORMING A RACE TRACK SPRAY PATTERN ON A BEAN FIELD ALONGSIDE OF 120 AVE SW WHICH IS SOUTHEAST OF RAYMOND, MN. AIRCRAFT WAS APPROACHING FROM THE NORTH AND AT APPROXIMATELY 50 FT AGL. AIRCRAFT PASSED OVER A LOW SET OF COUNTY POWER LINES AND WAS ABOUT TO CROSS THE COUNTY ROAD WHEN A AUTOMOBILE APPEARED ON THE ROAD APPROACHING FROM THE RIGHT (WEST). IN ORDER TO AVOID PASSING TOO CLOSE TO THE VEHICLE THE PILOT INCREASED HIS ALTITUDE ONLY SLIGHTLY IN ORDER TO PASS UNDER THE LARGER AND HIGHER MAIN TRANSMISSION POWER LINES ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE ROAD THAT WERE NOW TOO CLOSE TO TRY TO CLIMB OVER. THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK ONE OF THE TRANSMISSION LINES SEVERING THE LINE. THE POWER LINE PUSHED THE DEFLECTOR BAR BACK INTO THE WINDSHIELD KNOCKING A SMALL SECTION OUT OF THE WINDSHIELD IN THE UPPER LEFT HAND CORNER. THE PILOT MAINTAINED CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT AND RETURNED TO HIS HOME BASE ABOUT 10 MILES TO THE WEST NEAR CLARA CITY, MN. THE PILOT LANDED WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT AND WAS NOT INJURED. AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED ONLY MINOR DAMAGE. AIRCRAFT WAS REPAIRED AND INSPECTED FOR AIRWORTHINESS AND BACK FLYING IN LESS THAN A WEEK.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
