## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT FELT THE APPROACH TO LANDING WAS TOO SHORT. PILOT ATTEMPTED GO AROUND. TWO FACTORS PREVENTED GO AROUND: TAIL WHEEL WAS IN TALL GRASS AND 10KT CROSSWIND. WIND PUSHED PLANE INTO TALL GRASS ON SIDE OF GRAVEL RUNWAY AND PLANE SPUN OUT INTO THE GRASS.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC06CA106](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC06CA106), Jul 28, 2006: Taylorcraft F19 (N8216E), Hoonah, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's delayed go-around during an aborted landing, which resulted in an in-flight loss of control and impact with terrain. A factor associated with the accident was high vegetation.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
