## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AS SEAPLANE N415GA DEPARTED HARVEST LAKE IN RICEBORO GA., THE PILOT WAS UNABLE TO OBTAIN ADEQUATE ALTITUDE TO CLEAR A FOUR FOOT BANK AT THE FAR END OF THE LAKE. BOTH FLOATS CONTACTED THE BANK TWO FEET BELOW THE CREST. THE AIRCRAFT CONTINUED FOR ANOTHER 100 FEET BEFORE FIRST CONTACT WITH THE MARSH OCCURRED AND SKIDDING APPROXIMATELY 350 FEET BEFORE COMING TO REST SIDEWAYS FACING AT A RIGHT ANGLE. BOTH FLOATS SEPARATED THE AIRCRAFT AND THE LEFT WING, PROPELLERS AND LOWER FUSELAGE SUSTAINED CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE. THERE WERE NO PASSENGER INJURIES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ATL06CA113](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ATL06CA113), Jul 29, 2006: Cessna 208 (N415GA), Riceboro, GA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to achieve the proper takeoff distance on a short water runway resulting in an in-flight collision with a berm and a marshy area on initial takeoff climb.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
