## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE STUDENT PILOT APPROACHED TO LAND AND FOUND HIMSELF A LITTLE HIGH. HE ELECTED TO CONTINUE THE APPROACH AND STATED THAT HE FLARED TOO HIGH. IN HIS ATTEMPT TO LAND, HE PORPOISED AND DID SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE NOSE GEAR/FIREWALL AREA OF THE AIRCRAFT. THE NOSE GEAR COLLAPSED AND CAME TO REST WITH NO RESULTING INJURIES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ATL06CA116](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ATL06CA116), Aug 3, 2006: Cessna 172M (N20965), Augusta, GA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's improper flare on landing with excessive altitude resulting in a hard landing.
