## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) N9294Z WAS APPROACHING TO LAND IN CRAIG HARBOR, WHEN IT STRUCK A BOAT. THE BOAT HAD BEEN TRAVELING AT APPROX 25 KTS TOWARDS THE AIRCRAFT FROM THE AIRCRAFT'S RIGHT SIDE. NEITHER THE AIRCRAFT PILOT NOR THE BOAT CAPTAIN SAW THE OTHER, AS THEY WERE BOTH IN THE OTHER'S BLIND SPOT. THE PILOT INITIATED A GO-AROUND, AND RETURNED TO KETCHIKAN FOR ASSISTANCE. IN KETCHIKAN, THE PILOT LANDED THE STRAIGHT FLOAT DHC-2 ON THE RUNWAY TO AVOID A WATER LANDING THAT HE DEEMED DANGEROUS DUE TO DAMAGE TO THE UNDERSIDE OF HIS FLOATS. THE LANDING ON THE RUNWAY WAS UNEVENTFUL. THERE WERE NO INJURIES.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
