## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) BOTH ENGINES QUIT APPARENTLY DUE TO FUEL STARVATION. WHEN AIRCRAFT WAS RECOVERED AFTER DITCHING, THERE WERE 75 GALS. OF FUEL IN ONE MAIN TANK. ALL OTHER TANKS WERE OPENED DURING THE IMPACT AND HAD CONTAMINATED WATER IN THEM. IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO TELL IF AND HOW MUCH FUEL WAS IN THEM.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC06LA112](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC06LA112), Aug 8, 2006: Beech BE-18 (N498BH), Culebra, PR, substantial damage. Probable cause: A loss of engine power due to fuel starvation/exhaustion in all engines for an undetermined reason during cruise flight, which resulted in a forced landing and ditching.

## Other reports on N498BH (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19910418024719I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19910418024719I), Apr 18, 1991: Beech JRB6 (N498BH), Miami, FL. ATC lost contact with flight en route. Pilot finally reported inoperative transponder. Had penetrated adis.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
