## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE AIRCRAFT FLIPPED OVER ON LANDING. THE PILOT STATED THAT HE HAD SET THE PARKING BRAKE DURING THE FLIGHT AND HAD FORGOTTEN TO RELEASE IT PRIOR TO LANDING. WHEN THE LANDING GEAR TOUCHED DOWN THE FORCES OF THE LOCKED BRAKES CAUSED THE AIRCRAFT TO IMMEDIATELY FLIP OVER AND HEAVILY DAMAGE THE AIRCRAFT. THE PILOT WAS NOT INJURED. IT IS INTERESTING TO NOTE THAT THE PILOT HAD BEEN PARTICIPATING IN, WHAT HE TERMED, WATER SKIING, EVEN THOUGH THE AIRCRAFT IS NOT EQUIPPED WITH FLOATS. EVIDENTLY, HE HAS LEARNED THAT HE MUST LOCK THE BRAKES BEFORE HE PARTICIPATES IN THIS WATER SKIING ACTIVITY. AN NTSB TEAM PARTICIPATED IN THE INVESTIGATION OF THIS ACCIDENT BECAUSE THE AIRCRAFT WAS EQUIPPED WITH AN AIR BAG AND THE AIR BAG DID NOT ACTIVATE DURING THE ACCIDENT. NO REPORT HAS BEEN RELEASED AS OF THE TIME OF THIS REPORT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB SEA06FA168](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/SEA06FA168), Aug 27, 2006: Aviat A-1B (N94HY), Owyhee, OR, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot inadvertently landing with the parking brake engaged, which resulted in a nose over.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
