## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) FROM THE PILOT'S STATEMENT, HE STATED THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION ABOUT HIS SECOND LANDING ATTEMPT OF HIS FIRST SOLO FLIGHT. HE THOUGHT HE WAS TOO HIGH AND TOO FAST AND DECIDED TO MAKE A GO AROUND AND GAVE IT FULL THROTTLE AND ATTEMPTED TO BANK TO THE LEFT. HE HEARD THE INSTRUCTOR ON A HAND HELD RADIO TELL HIM TO ADJUST THE FLAPS, THEY WERE AT 40 DEGREES. IN REDUCING THE FLAPS HE REALIZED HE WAS TOO LOW TO CLEAR THE TREES. FROM THE WRECKAGE SIT IT APPEARED HE WAS ON A CLOSE-IN DOWNWIND WHEN HE HIT THE TREES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB MIA06CA134](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/MIA06CA134), Sep 3, 2006: Cessna 172N (N1210F), Pensacola, FL, substantial damage. Probable cause: The student pilot's failure to raise the wing flaps for a go-around resulting in the airplane not climbing and an in-flight collision with trees.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
