## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) UPON ARRIVAL ON THE SCENE, THE AIRCRAFT WAS FOUND TO BE DESTROYED FROM THE CRASH AND CONSUMED BY FIRE. THE PILOT STATED THAT A PREFLIGHT WAS DONE PRIOR TO START UP AND EVERYTHING CHECKED GOOD. PRE DEPARTURE RUN UP WAS NORMAL. ON TAKE OFF HE ELECTED TO CLIMB OUT AT A HIGHER ANGLE OF ATTACH, AT ONE TIME HE NOTICED 1800 FPM. HE LEVELED OFF, RAISED THE GEAR AND STARTED A LEFT TURN. AFTER INITIATING THE LEFT TURN, THE ENGINES WENT SILENT. HE DECIDED TO TURN BACK TO THE RUNWAY. HE HIT A TREE WITH HIS RIGHT WING. HE HEARD THE ENGINES START, FELT A THRUST. HE IMPACTED MORE TREES. HE NOTICED A BLAZE AND GOT AWAY FROM THE AIRCRAFT THEN THE WRECKAGE IGNITED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB DFW06LA207](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/DFW06LA207), Sep 7, 2006: Piper PA-23-250 (N330PL), Newton, MS, destroyed. Probable cause: The total loss of engine power due to fuel contamination. A factor was the pilot's inadequate preflight inspection.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
