## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) N44AE, GA-500-B, BEING OPERATED BY CENTRAL AIR SOUTHWEST, INC., WAS IN CRUISE FLIGHT, ENROUTE TO OMAHA, NE, WHEN THE LEFT ENGINE STARTED TO LOSE RPM. THE PILOT SHUT DOWN THE ENGINE AND DECLARED AN EMERGENCY. THE AIRCRAFT LANDED WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. MAINTENANCE TECHNICIANS CHECKED THE PROPELLER GOVERNOR SCREEN AND FOUND FINE METAL SHAVINGS. IT APPEARED THAT THE GOVERNOR FAILED DUE TO INSUFFICIENT OIL SUPPLY. THE ENGINE WAS TO BE REMOVED AND SENT IN FOR OVERHAUL AND FURTHER INVESTIGATION INTO THE CAUSE OF THE INSUFFICIENT OIL SUPPLY TO THE PROPELLER GOVERNOR. ENGINE TT 11,000, TSOH 1,300.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
