## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE STARTER ON N6319Z WAS INOPERATIVE. FOR SOME TIME, THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ HAND PROPPED HIS PIPER PA-25-25 (S/N 25-412). WHEN THE AIRCRAFT ENGINE STARTED, IT DID SO AT FULL POWER. THE AIRCRAFT ACCELERATED, THE TAIL WHEEL WAS UP OFF THE GROUND, N6319Z HIT A PARKED, TIED DOWN, PIPER PA28-151 (S/N 28-7415251). N6319Z STRUCK N55PN WITH ITS RIGHT WING. THAT WING COLLAPSED AROUND THE PA-28'S COWLING AND SPINNER. N6319Z PIVOTED TO THE RIGHT AND ITS PROP CUT UP ABOUT 4' OF THE PA-28'S RIGHT WING, CONTINUED PIVOTING TO THE RIGHT AND CAME TO A REST ABOUT 180 DEGREES FROM ORIGINAL HEADING.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB NYC06CA225](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/NYC06CA225), Sep 17, 2006: Piper PA-25-180 (N6319Z), Mount Holly, NJ, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's improper starting procedure, which resulted in an uncontrolled taxi, and collision with a parked airplane.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
