## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) N698BS WAS ON TAKEOFF ROLL WITH THE CANOPY OPEN, AND AT THE POINT OF DEPARTURE THE PILOT ATTEMPTED TO CLOSE THE CANOPY AND INADVERTENTLY PUSHED THE CONTROL STICK FORWARD CAUSING THE AIRPLANE TO NOSE DOWN AND CONTACT THE RUNWAY HARD ENOUGH TO BEND THE NOSE LANDING GEAR AND ALLOW THE PROPELLER TO STRIKE THE GROUND. TAKE OFF WAS NOT ABORTED AND NORMAL CLIMB OUT WAS ACCOMPLISHED TO APPROXIMATELY 1800 FEET ALTITUDE. PILOT "CYCLED" PROPELLER AND DECIDED TO CONTINUE TO DESTINATION AIRPORT, INDEPENDENCE, OR. LANDING AT INDEPENDENCE AIRPORT (7S5) WAS MADE WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
